What does it mean to “feel at home”? It refers to feeling accepted or having a sense of belonging. It’s important for residents, especially new residents, feel at home at Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant.
Our resident lead Welcome Committee members are often the first to greet new residents upon arriving at their new home. They offer helpful tips, provide direction, and help answer any questions to make the move-in process as stress-free as possible.
Committee members also provide new residents with the Resident Directory, which includes photos of residents to help them put a face to a name, and introduce them to their neighbors.
A meet and greet reception is organized and hosted by the committee, providing another opportunity for new residents to get to know other residents and learn more about the Resident Association Council and Life Enrichment.
After approximately six weeks from moving in, a committee member discusses the welcome experience with the new resident(s) to understand the aspects that were enjoyed and identify any opportunities to make the experience better. The Welcome Committee wants everyone to have a smooth move-in experience and feel at home on the first day.
