Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant’s Executive Chef Antione Green is more than a talented cook with a lot of education and experience; he’s a team builder and a family man. His journey to Miller’s Grant began at age seven when he learned to cook from his grandmother and great-grandmother. From that point, his dream was to work in the food industry.
Chef Green, a Baltimore native, earned an associate degree from Baltimore International College. He then attended Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI, and received a bachelor’s degree in culinary management and food service. With encouragement from Tamara Shani, Miller’s Grant’s director of dining, Chef Green is pursuing his master’s degree in business administration. He expects to graduate in August 2023.
Working in senior living is the perfect environment for Chef Green. He enjoys his one-on-one interactions with residents and being a part of their lives and feels his culinary talents make a difference.
Chef Green believes his contribution to Miller’s Grant is building a dynamic team. He prides himself on bringing unique talents together. “It’s all about the team. Nothing works without teamwork,” said Chef Green. Team building, for Chef Green, includes being inclusive. During morning meetings, he solicits menu suggestions from his team. If the suggestion meets dietary standards, it’s added to the menu. Imagine the pride a cook feels when given the opportunity to showcase their culinary talent. Accolades to Chef Green for being a team player!
When he’s not working, Chef Green likes to spend time with his wife and four children. Though at home, his wife often wears the chef’s hat. Despite preparing deliciously creative meals for residents and team members, his favorite food is a grilled cheese sandwich with provolone and cheddar cheese. Interesting for a chef, huh? If you ask, maybe he’ll make you one.
His passion for culinary services and teamwork-driven mindset make Chef Green a true Miller’s Grant asset.
